In the rearward facing car seats children usually propping their legs up on a vehicle seat, sitting cross-legged, or hanging their legs over the side of a car seat. In the forward facing position, with nowhere to rest their feet, kids may experience discomfort leading even to many safety issues during a car journey. Dangling legs can affect correct blood and lymph circulation, causing pins and needles, put too much pressure on joints, muscles and spine, but most importantly, affect a correct and safe car seat position. When they aren’t comfortable in their seats, they’re generally unhappy, which may not only lead to kicking the back of a parents’ seat.

Making their journeys safe and comfortable

They are as well more likely to escape, cross their legs, rest them whenever they’re able to find a room to do so (not necessarily in a safe manner and very often having a muddy shoes on) or slide their pelvis under the lap part of the seat belt in a highback booster type of car seat. This scenario can be particularly dangerous, as the seat belt will no longer remain in the safe and correct position (below the hip pins), but instead will rest on the soft tissues of the stomach and may lead to severe and life threatening internal injuries as a result of the accident.

Maintaining the correct position is essential to remain effectively protected by the car seat.

When Is The KneeGuardKids 3 Footrest Needed?

Your child sits securely in the car seat.
However, after a while, he or she begins to feel a strong pressure under the knees and calves. Numbness under the influence of gravity causes unpleasant, painful sensations in a child.

The stress associated with the perceived discomfort increases and then the child tries to remedy it subconsciously by adopting positions that can be dangerous in a situation of sudden braking or a collision.

Uncomfortably dangling legs:
This position is extremely bad for your child’s health.

The constant pressure on the limbs, caused by self-weight and gravity, causes problems with blood circulation, numbness and pain in the legs. Children often kick into the back of the front seat to reduce muscle tension.

Why KneeGuardKids Is Recommended?

•Under their own weight and gravitation legs are pressed under the thighs against the edge of the seat, and under the calves against the backseat (characteristic redness).

•Foot in the shoe, especially the heavier or winter one is kept in hyperextension with toes downwards
•Dangling legs make hips go forward
•Dangling legs weight the knee joint
•The child’s brain receives uncomfortable sygnals from different parts of the body

Symptoms and consequences of unsupported legs:

1) disordered blood and lymph circulation as well as increased muscle strain
——–> Numbness, tingling, sensitivity, numbness of the feet, calves, thighs, and even the buttocks

2) Strain of the muscles in calves, feet and sinews
——–> Discomfort, sensitivity in the knee joint

3) Dangling legs make hips go forward, the back does not lean against the backrest properly
——–> Discomfort, disordered natural curvature of the back

4) Sensitivity or pain in the knee joints
——–> Sensitivity or pain in the knee joint, deformation of the joint cartilage in the knee

5) The child is a subject to negative stimuli
——–> Feeling discouraged against travelling, symptoms of motion sickness

Benefits of supported legs:

1) Steadily supported legs, reduced muscles and joints pressure
——–> Adequate tissue blood supply,
no numbness of the feet, thighs or buttocks

2) The muscles, feet and tendons in the calves are well supported and relaxed
——–> Comfortable position,
no more knee pain

3) Supported legs allow the child to maintain the correct hips and back position
——–> Comfortable position, no more incorrect curvature and back pain

4) Correct position and deflection of the knee joints
——–> Healthy position of the joints,no pain and knee damage

5) Minimising negative stimuli during traveling
——–> The comfortable position means that the child does not feel fear or reluctance to travel
